He’s had the honor of gracing the airwaves here in Buffalo since 1984 where he got his start working for WYSL and WPHD and yes, he was also “Captain Cash” for a couple of years. Did you ever wave at him and get hooked up with the cash? $$$$$$$
He also had on-air stints at WBYR The Bear, WUFX The Fox, WEDG The Edge and WLCE here in Buffalo.
Since 1999, he’s been with 97 Rock and considers it a privilege to be on-air at a radio station which is woven into the fabric of WNY.
He has also been with the Buffalo Bisons as a Public Address Announcer at Sahlen Field since 2016.
In addition, since 2005, he is a Volunteer Firefighter at the Kenilworth Vol. Fire Co. in his home town of Tonawanda, NY.
In 2017 Jim was Inducted into the Kenmore East Performing Arts Hall of Fame.
Jim is also an NYS Broadcasters Association Award Winnner, earning the 2024 Excellence in Broadcasting Award for “Outstanding Live On- Scene” in which he broadcast from a Firefighter Boot Drive to raise money for the family of Fallen Buffalo Firefighter Jason Arno.
On a personal note, he’s been married to his wife Laura since 1992 and has two daughters (one of which is a Doctor, who would have thunk that!!!). He is also a proud Papa to two Granddaughters. Heck, even his dog Moxie is a female… he’s clearly outnumbered but wouldn’t want it any other way!
Besides his love for Classic Rock, McGee is also passionate about motorcycles and is the proud owner of a Harley Davidson Electra Glide Classic.
