You may not have heard of Gregg Rolie, but you certainly have heard Gregg Rolie.
He’s been playing organ with Ringo Starr’s all star band for years, but before playing alongside a childhood idol, he was the front man for some pretty heavy hitting classic rock bands of his own. Did you know he was the original lead singer of Journey, before Steve Perry joined the band full time?
He also sang lead vocal on nearly all of Santana’s early hits, including “Black Magic Woman,” “Oye Como Va,” and “Evil Ways.”
With Journey’s pending Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction this weekend, “The Professor” took some time with Gregg to nail down just exactly who is singing all those classics at the big event in Brooklyn.
