AUDIO: Tom Calderone talks MTV, VH1 and 80’s memories

Here’s another cool guest for #80sWeek on Morning Bull.  You may remember Tom Calderone if you attended Buffalo State in the 1980’s.  He was instrumental in founding WBNY FM, the campus radio station responsible for bringing lots of hip, fresh music to Buffalo’s airwaves in the 1980’s, 90’s, and today.

He worked his way up to MTV, and was at one time president of VH1 in the 2000’s.  He’s now an executive at Spotify, a major music subscription streaming service.  What was it like to spin records at Buffalo bars in the 1980’s?

Tom Calderone shares fond memories of his salad days cutting teeth on a campus radio station, to becoming influential in the music video explosion in the ’80’s on MTV.

In fact, we spent more time with Tom than we could air, so here’s the rest of our chat with the former VH1 executive and proud Buff State alumnus below.
